FAQ

Below are some of the frequently asked questions we often receive, both before and after joining the Alex Parker team.

How do I become an Alex Parker Author?

Please review our manuscript wish list and calls for open submissions!
If you think your manuscript would be a good fit, submit it through our submissions page here.

Please ensure you submit a well-edited piece that is completed to the best of your ability. Don't stress if there is a typo you found after submitting. We are authors, too. We get it. You do not need to resubmit.

Where do I send by Query letter?

Please visit our submissions page! You simply fill out our submission form and upload your files.

How long will it take to hear back on a submission?

We are a small team and do our best to review all submissions promptly. As a business, we aim to reply to every submission we receive. (Seems more personal than just wondering, right?) If you have not heard from us on your submission after 90-120 days, feel free to give us a gentle nudge at editor@alexparker.com

Why do you request a synopsis?

When reading some pieces, we may teeter between asking for a full or passing on the project. The first ten pages might not be enough to make this determination. In those cases, we prefer to review the synopsis to see if the story has a solid foundation before requesting a full.

Do I need to have an agent?

Nope.

Do you publish previously self-published titles?

We are not looking for titles that have been previously self-published. We are looking for new work. However, we do welcome authors who have previously self-published other pieces.

How much do you pay authors?

We offer our authors profit splits after covering the book's production costs. We think it's unfair for publishers to charge authors for anything. And we are not a vanity press. We will never charge you for production of your novel. Our goal in publishing your work is a mutually beneficial partnership where the author and publisher work together for success.

I'm having issues with my submission. What do I do?

Recently we have had issues with our submission page giving an error message and not confirming that a submission was recorded. Please note, in most cases the submissions are still making it to us. However, if you would like to confirm, please send us an email and we will check on your submission. editor@alexparkerpublishing.com
